Dreams of what was anticipated to be the First-Ever County Green Space at the heart of Voi has perhaps temporarily been put on hold as a complaint law suit has been launched against the project.

On 4th August 2024 Taita Taveta County Government through governor Andrew Mwadime , Kariako Central Residents Self help Group in conjunction with Haki Africa initiated urban green space which aligns with the draft Forest and Landscape Restoration Implementation Plan (FOLAREP), which aims to restore 226,420 hectares of degraded land.

A move that will later the same month be disputed by a local businessman claiming ownership of the same land .

The disputed land is also demarcated for a cultural centre for the community

Aggrey Mwadeghu, a local businessman in Taita Taveta , filed a lawsuit against the developers claiming ownership of the land, as Kariako Central Residents Self help Group maintains the land is public property.

The case is scheduled for hearing on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Voi Law Court.
