Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga has slammed the government-to-government oil deal that he says has now led to exorbitant fuel prices in the country.
Speaking in Siaya, Odinga says there are deep-rooted cartels inside and outside the government that have inflated the cost of fuel through corruption.
The Azimio leader is now threatening to unleash what he terms as a damning dossier next week.
Odinga, who was in his home-turf of Siaya, accused President William Ruto of shouldering oil cartels that are part of the fuel prices mess.
“Bei ya petroli ndio inasababaisha gharama ya maisha iende juu…juzi CS Chirchir alisema mafuta itapanda hadi 300,” Odinga stated.
Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni last Sunday claimed that profit-seeking middlemen inflated petrol and kerosene prices making the prices soar.
Museveni claimed middlemen are working with internal parasites who he says have been cheating their country.
According to Museveni, it is more cost-effective for Uganda to purchase from refineries abroad and has contracted bulk and refinery suppliers to obtain lower-cost petroleum products and reduce reliance on Kenya for supply.
“Museveni amewachana sasa na Kenya..amesema he does not want mambo ya G2G…amesema he cannot pay for Kenyan corruption,” Odinga added.
Odinga claims he has a fuel prices dossier that he will unleash next week, adding that cartels in the petroleum sector are pocketing Ksh.30 for every litre sold in the country.
“Yale nasema tumefanya uchunguzi na wiki ijayo nitatoboa yote,” he stated.
The National Dialogue Committee that has retreated to file its report on among other things the lowering of the cost of living will table the report next week.
But the Azimio wing is warning that they will not append their signatures to the document if the fuel prices menace is not resolved.
“I have instructions nikirudi Bomas kwamba if there is no deal on fuel and cost of fuel there will be no deal,” Wamalwa said.
Odinga added: “Yale yote alisema kuhusu gharama ya maisha ni uwongo, anadanganya ati imerudi chini, hiyo ni uwongo.”
