Taita Taveta County Commissioner Josphine Onunga has urged Taita Taveta leadership to unite towards the development of the region stressing that national government has committed its resources to improve the living standards.
Speaking during Madaraka day celebration in Mwatate Sub- County , Taita Taveta , Onunga highlighted the importance of Madaraka Day as a reminder of Kenya’s journey towards independence and the responsibilities that come with self-governance. She praised the efforts of the local community in contributing to the county’s development and emphasized the collective effort needed to drive further progress.
Onunga further Congratulated the county leadership for discouraging drug use lamenting over uncontrollable supply of substances that has crippled the future of a section of youths and broken many families in Taita Taveta and coast region at large .
The celebrations witnessed active participation from local leaders, community members, and various stakeholders. Their engagement reflected a shared commitment to the county’s development and the well-being of its residents.
This follows a week after Taita Taveta governor Andrew Mwadime called for a bad of Khat related to a popular but controversial stimulant ( Mugoka ) , lamenting that it has harmed many youths .
